Omenaa Mensah Opens Sport and Art Campus for Tema Youth

Ghanaian-Polish philanthropist and entrepreneur Omenaa Mensah has officially opened a sport and art campus in Tema, Ghana, bringing together sports facilities, healthcare services, educational activities and contemporary art.

The Omenaa Sport & Art Campus, opened on October 31, 2026, is located beside Kids Haven School, which provides care and educational support for children who have experienced violence, severe neglect and forced labour.

The project is designed to serve children at the school, other vulnerable young people and members of the surrounding community through its range of facilities and programmes.

What the Campus Offers

The campus comprises three main sections: the Gym Center, Community Center and Art Residence.

The Gym Center features professional sports equipment, changing rooms, a physiotherapy room and sports fields. These facilities provide spaces for physical training and sporting activities.

The Community Center houses Doctors Rooms, a medical clinic that will provide free paediatric care, diagnostic services, screening tests and medicines. According to the Omenaa Foundation, its intended beneficiaries include children from Kids Haven, children from other residential care facilities in Tema, deaf and hard-of-hearing children, and members of the local community.

The Community Center also includes PHENOMENAA CAFE and the TOP CHARITY Creative Lab.

The Art Residence contains creative spaces for workshops led by international artists, as well as facilities for artistic activities, culinary training and other educational programmes.

Who Stands to Benefit?

Children at Kids Haven are among the primary beneficiaries of the campus.

The facility supports children who have experienced difficult circumstances, providing care and access to education.

The Omenaa Foundation has also identified children from other residential care facilities, deaf children and families in Tema as intended beneficiaries of the campus’s medical services.

The Foundation further organised a Community Open Day on November 1, 2026, during which the campus welcomed children, young people and residents from surrounding neighbourhoods.

Sports and Art as Part of Youth Development

The campus brings together sporting and creative facilities in one location.

Its sports section provides equipment and spaces for physical training, while the Art Residence accommodates workshops and artistic programmes involving international artists.

The Foundation identifies sport as a way of encouraging discipline and confidence, while its artistic programmes focus on creativity and self-expression.

The project also includes plans for vocational training through PHENOMENAA CAFE. From 2027, the Foundation, in partnership with E. Wedel, plans to introduce courses in barista skills, kitchen assistance and customer service.

The courses are intended for teenagers transitioning out of residential care in Ghana and other beneficiaries of the Foundation.

A New Facility for the Tema Community

The campus officially opened with an event attended by Ghanaian and international personalities, including football figures Asamoah Gyan and Stephen Appiah, Polish basketball star Marcin Gortat and Nigerian DJ Cuppy.

The programme also featured a football match involving children, Ghanaian football personalities and Polish sporting figures.

The opening included the inauguration of the Museum of Ghanaian-Polish Relations and its first exhibition, Common Ground, featuring artists from Ghana, Poland and other African countries.

Through the Omenaa Sport & Art Campus, the Omenaa Foundation has established a facility in Tema that combines sports, healthcare, education and artistic activities, with programmes directed at vulnerable children and the wider community.
