POKOT FEST PUTS CULTURE, JOBS AND YOUTH ENTERPRISE ON SHOW
Pokot Fest puts culture, jobs and youth enterprise on show
Pokot Fest 2026 has brought the culture of the Pokot people into the spotlight in Kenya. The event took place on November 7 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
The festival brought together young people, business owners, government officials, artists and visitors to celebrate the Pokot community and its traditions.
The event featured traditional dances, music, local food, colourful clothes and other cultural displays. Visitors had the chance to learn about the history and lifestyle of the Pokot people.
However, the festival was not just about music and dancing. It also focused on jobs, business and helping young people become successful.
Young people were given the chance to display their products, show their talents and meet people who could help their businesses grow. This also helped local business owners introduce their products to more customers.
The festival showed that traditional skills like making clothes, beadwork, artwork and cooking local food can help people make money and support their families.
Kenya's Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, also attended the event. He encouraged the Pokot people to use their culture and talents to bring development to their community.
He also spoke about the importance of education, business and giving young people better opportunities to succeed.
Peace and unity were also important messages at the festival. The event encouraged people from different communities to live together peacefully and support one another.
Through music, dance and other activities, Pokot Fest showed how culture can bring people together and create new opportunities.
It also reminded young people that their skills and traditions can help them build a better future.
Pokot Fest is more than a cultural celebration. It gives local businesses a chance to grow, helps young people show what they can do and keeps the community's traditions alive.
The festival hopes to make Pokot culture more popular while creating more opportunities for the next generation.
