Phyna Beats Nkechi Blessing to Win ₦50m at Chaos in the Ring

Reality TV star Phyna has beaten Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday in a celebrity boxing contest in Lagos, winning ₦50 million, a championship belt and a car at the highly publicised Chaos in the Ring event.

The fight took place on October 1, 2026, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, as part of an event organised by Balmoral Promotions. Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, secured victory in the fourth and final round after knocking her opponent to the canvas.

The contest attracted considerable attention from entertainment fans, particularly because of the public disagreement between the two celebrities before the fight. Their dispute, which played out through social media exchanges and confrontations at promotional appearances, helped build hype and anticipation for their meeting in the ring.

According to Punch Newspapers, Phyna said she remained calm during the contest and conserved her energy before delivering the decisive blows in the final round.

The victory also prompted Phyna to challenge Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia to another celebrity boxing match. Etinosa, who watched the contest from ringside, accepted the challenge, adding another possible showdown to the growing celebrity boxing conversation.

Celebrity boxing continues to attract attention in Nigeria because it combines sports, entertainment and the personalities audiences already follow online. Familiar faces, public rivalries and the possibility of dramatic outcomes encourage fans to watch, share clips and discuss results across social media.

For promoters, these contests offer opportunities to attract audiences beyond traditional boxing enthusiasts. For celebrities, they provide a platform to demonstrate competitiveness, generate publicity and potentially earn substantial rewards.

However, the growing popularity also highlights the importance of proper training, medical supervision and safety measures to protect participants.

Phyna's victory has strengthened the appeal of Chaos in the Ring, showing how celebrity rivalries can translate into major entertainment attractions while bringing fresh attention to boxing in Nigeria.
