Controversial relationship expert Blessing CEO is trending again, this time not for dragging anyone, but for saying sorry through tears.
What she said in the video
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, posted an emotional video on her public Instagram page @officialblessingceo.
In the clip, she is sitting inside her car crying. According to the video, she said she had to run away from the house because she did not want her mother to see her like that.
She said: "My family, what do you want me to do? Tell me because I'm confused. My brain is numb."
The main part of her message, from the Instagram video itself, was an apology for her past comments about other people's pain:
"I'm so sorry for speaking about the pain I know nothing about. I'm so sorry for speaking about the pain I've never felt. I'm sorry for speaking about it carelessly... I'm realising that talk is cheap. Action speaks louder than words."
She described herself as broken and exhausted, asking Nigerians to pray for her: "I'm so broken to the point that I'm losing myself. Pray for me because I'm exhausted from praying by myself."
She also spoke directly to her late son Bryan, whom she called Dum Dum: "To my son who passed, Dum Dum like I call him, I miss you and I promise to correct every wrong to keep making you proud in heaven."
Her fiance, businessman IVD (Ikechukwu Ogbonna), also posted on his page the same day asking forgiveness: "It's been 5 years of endless battle also trying to retract all my mistakes."
Why many people are reacting now
From the news reports by Vanguard and Punch NG, the apology is coming at a very sensitive time.
Blessing CEO was in custody at Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos over fraud allegations involving N69.15 million, when her 9-year-old son Bryan died on June 8, 2026 in hospital. Reports say he had chronic asthma. She was released on bail in late October.
People are reacting because:
1. She linked her past controversial comments to her present pain. In the past she had been criticized for comments during the domestic violence case involving IVD's late wife Bimbo Ogbonna and for her repeated criticism of May Edochie.
2. She also faced backlash in early 2026 over a stage four breast cancer fundraising appeal.
3. Many see the video as genuine grief, others see it as damage control after losing her son and facing legal issues.
What this says about online fame and backlash
This story shows how Nigerian celeb culture works. Blessing built her brand on hot takes about relationships, but when personal tragedy hit while she was in custody, the same internet that followed her hot takes demanded accountability.
Online fame is loud, but backlash is louder and lasts longer. One viral comment can trend for a day, but when real pain comes, people remember your old words. Her own line - "talk is cheap, action is loud" - is now the lesson.
For creators, it means words have a price, especially when you talk about pain you have never felt.
