#A man went to Harbeespoort for a day out, took a few photos, posted them online and probably expected the usual likes, comments and compliments.
#Instead, South Africa social media decided he looked exactly like Nathi Mthethwa.
And just like that, a perfectly normal holiday photo became an internet event.

#The photos were taken at the famous upside down house in Harbeespoort and posted on X on the 11th of October by the man who goes by Edward ThembaSa who captioned the post with “I had to go see it” referring to the tourist attraction but people online saw something else other than the famous structure.
#The post first gained traction when another X user reposted the photos and suggested t that Edward looked remarkably like Nathi Mthethwa, the former South African cabinet minister and ambassador to France. From there the internet did what it does best; it ran with the joke.

#One person asked, “Nathi Mthethwa?”
Another joked, “you couldn’t wait a little longer before you resurface?”
#Someone else wondered why he looked so much. Like Mthethwa while another user joked that they’ve thought he was a politician himself.
#Some users even brought France into the conversation. One commenter joked, “close enough, why is your family moving to France?”
#Another wrote that they thought the man was Mthethwa returning from Paris with his family.
#And Edward himself did not seem interested in fighting the allegations, instead, he joined the joke, laughing about the comparisons and even joking that he might need plastic surgery.

#What made the situation particularly funny is that the man wasn’t even trying to create a meme; he was simply visiting a tourist attraction and taking pictures- the kind of thing thousands of people do every day.

#It is also a good reminder of how quickly something completely ordinary can become content online. Sometimes you need a planned photoshoot and a social media strategy. Other times, you jus need to visit Harbeespoort, take a pictur and accidentally look like Nathi Mthethwa.
