Tacha’s Movie Role Gets People Talking as Reality TV Star Explores Nollywood

Nigerian reality television star and influencer Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has attracted attention for expanding her career from reality TV into Nollywood. The former Big Brother Naija housemate began exploring acting with an appearance in the movie Tiger’s Tail, marking an important step in her entertainment journey.
Tacha became widely known after participating in Big Brother Naija in 2019. Since then, she has built a strong online presence and developed her brand through social media, business ventures and public appearances. Her move into acting represents another opportunity to showcase her talents to a wider audience.
Tacha’s Announcement About Acting
In 2022, Tacha revealed that she was venturing into Nollywood and would feature in Tiger’s Tail. The movie also featured established actors, including Alex Ekubo, Zubby Michael and Anita Joseph.
According to a report by The Sun Nigeria, the film premiered in cinemas nationwide on July 22, 2022. Her appearance in the production marked a significant development for the reality television personality as she explored a new area of entertainment.
Tacha also spoke about her experience on set, describing the process as challenging but interesting. She explained that she enjoyed trying something new and appreciated the support she received from other cast members.
How Fans and Celebrities Reacted
Tacha’s entry into Nollywood attracted attention from fans and fellow entertainers. Many followers were interested in seeing how she would perform in a movie after becoming popular through reality television.
Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo publicly praised her performance in her first movie appearance. He expressed confidence in her acting ability and encouraged audiences to look forward to seeing a different side of the reality star.
The positive comments helped generate interest in Tacha’s new career direction. Her large social media following also gave her an opportunity to introduce the project to audiences who already knew her from television and online platforms.
However, moving into acting also presents a challenge for reality stars. They must demonstrate their abilities on screen and convince audiences that they can succeed beyond their existing public image.
Why More Creators Are Moving Into Nollywood
The growing connection between social media and the Nigerian entertainment industry has created new opportunities for influencers and content creators.
People with established online audiences can use their popularity to attract attention to films, television productions and other creative projects. Their existing fan bases can also help filmmakers promote their work to wider audiences.
For creators, acting offers an opportunity to develop new skills, diversify their careers and build long-term opportunities in entertainment. For filmmakers, casting familiar personalities can generate publicity and attract viewers who want to see their favourite stars in different roles.
Nevertheless, popularity alone does not guarantee success. Acting requires preparation, discipline, emotional expression and the ability to work with directors and other performers.
What Tacha’s Move Means for Her Career
Tacha’s move into Nollywood demonstrates how entertainment personalities can explore opportunities beyond the platforms that first made them famous.
Her appearance in Tiger’s Tail introduced her to a different professional environment and allowed audiences to see another aspect of her career.
As more influencers explore filmmaking and acting, their success will depend on their willingness to learn, improve their craft and take on challenging roles.
For Tacha, entering Nollywood was an opportunity to challenge herself and expand her professional experience. Whether in reality television, business or acting, her journey highlights the importance of exploring new opportunities in Nigeria’s evolving entertainment industry.
