Omenaa Foundation Opens Sport and Art Campus in Tema to Empower Young People

The Omenaa Foundation has opened a new Sport and Art Campus in Tema, Ghana, creating fresh opportunities for young people through sports, education, healthcare and creative arts.

The facility, officially inaugurated on October 31, 2026, was established by Ghanaian-Polish philanthropist and entrepreneur Omenaa Mensah. It is designed to support vulnerable children, develop young talent and provide valuable services to the surrounding community.

The campus brings together three major facilities: a Gym Centre, Community Centre and Art Residence. It features sports facilities, including football fields and basketball and tennis courts, professional training equipment, creative spaces and a medical clinic.

One of its key community benefits is the Doctors Rooms medical clinic, which will provide free paediatric healthcare, medical examinations and medicines to children at Kids Haven and other residential care facilities in Tema, as well as deaf and hard-of-hearing children and members of the wider community.

The campus is particularly significant for children at Kids Haven School, located nearby. The school supports children who have experienced violence, neglect and forced labour. The new facility will give them access to sporting activities, healthcare and creative programmes that can help build confidence and develop their abilities.

Beyond sports, the Art Residence will host workshops led by international artists and vocational training programmes, including culinary courses. The campus also houses a museum dedicated to Ghanaian-Polish relations, with its first exhibition exploring cultural identity, heritage and international cooperation.

The initiative highlights the growing importance of investing in young people beyond traditional classroom education. Through sports, children can develop teamwork, discipline and confidence, while exposure to art can encourage creativity, cultural appreciation and new career opportunities.

For Tema residents, the campus represents more than a new sporting and cultural facility. It offers access to healthcare, learning opportunities and spaces where young people can discover and develop their talents.

The project also demonstrates how international partnerships and philanthropy can contribute to community development when resources are directed towards practical local needs.

By bringing sports, healthcare, education and the arts together, the Omenaa Sport and Art Campus aims to create a lasting impact on young people and the wider Tema community.
