Ghana’s First New Media Powerlist Recognises the Creators Shaping Online Culture

Ghana’s digital media industry has reached a new milestone with the announcement of the inaugural New Media Powerlist Ghana 2026. The ranking recognises online creators, influencers, bloggers and digital personalities whose work shapes conversations, entertainment and culture across social media.

The initiative was organised by Avance Media, a public relations and rankings firm, in partnership with WatsUp Agency, a communications and talent management agency. The organisers introduced the list to recognise the people contributing to Ghana’s growing creator economy.

Kwadwo Sheldon took the number-one position, followed by TikTok personality Dada Ahoufe in second place. Travel content creator Wode Maya ranked third, entertainment blogger Zionfelix came fourth, and dancer and choreographer Endurance Grand completed the top five.

The ranking covers creators working in different areas, including comedy, travel, lifestyle, dance, food, entertainment and online journalism. This range shows that digital influence is no longer limited to traditional celebrities or television personalities. People can now build audiences by sharing useful information, entertaining viewers, reporting events or telling stories about their communities.

Why the Powerlist matters

Social media creators have become important to brands because they can connect with specific audiences in a direct and relatable way. Businesses can work with creators to introduce products, promote events and reach people who are already interested in their content.

Creators also influence popular culture by helping new songs, dances, discussions and ideas spread across platforms. Their work can introduce emerging talent to wider audiences and create opportunities in advertising, media production and entertainment.

According to reports on the announcement, the ranking assessed 120 leading Ghanaian creators with a combined audience of 330.5 million followers across six platforms. Its scoring system considered audience reach, digital visibility and content activity. This approach aims to look beyond popularity alone and assess different aspects of a creator’s online presence.

The list also highlighted women’s contributions to the industry. Fourteen of the 50 people ranked were women. Endurance Grand was the highest-ranked woman at number five, followed by Afronitaa at number eight and Chefabbys at number ten.

A growing industry

The announcement has brought attention to how much Ghana’s digital media scene has developed. A ranking of this kind can give creators recognition while helping companies understand the different voices and audiences in the market.

However, rankings can also encourage discussion about how influence should be measured. Follower numbers and visibility are useful indicators, but the quality of content, audience trust and the positive impact of a creator’s work matter too.

The organisers say the initiative is intended to document the people shaping Ghana’s digital space rather than simply create competition. The project is expected to continue annually, alongside a Ghana Creator Economy Report examining developments in the sector.

As social platforms continue to influence how people receive news and entertainment, initiatives such as the New Media Powerlist offer a snapshot of the individuals helping shape Ghana’s online conversations.
