Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has unveiled the cast of his highly anticipated epic film sequel, Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors, which is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 4, 2026. The announcement has generated excitement among Nollywood enthusiasts, particularly fans of the original Jagun Jagun: The Warrior, which premiered on Netflix in August 2023. Adebayo revealed the new cast in a video shared on his social media platforms, introducing several prominent entertainers who will join returning actors in the sequel. The new production is expected to build on the original film's combination of Yoruba cultural heritage, traditional warfare, royal intrigue and dramatic power struggles
Among the newly announced cast members are award-winning actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, popular Fuji musicians Wasiu Ayinde Marshal and Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, comedian and actor Cute Abiola, and actor Muka Ray. Veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, was also named among the cast. Their inclusion adds variety to the ensemble, bringing together performers from film, comedy and music. The combination is expected to attract a broad audience, including fans of Yoruba-language cinema and popular Nigerian entertainment. Several actors from the first instalment are also returning. They include Lateef Adedimeji, Bimbo Ademoye, Bukunmi Oluwashina, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Yekini, Fathia Balogun, Adebayo Salami, Muyiwa Ademola, Yinka Quadri and Dele Odule. He praised the actors for contributing different personalities and performances to the production.
The sequel, subtitled War of Warriors, is expected to continue exploring themes of power, ambition, loyalty, revenge and the consequences of warfare. Although the producers have not disclosed the complete storyline, the film's teaser hints at a world in which the influence of a feared warrior continues even after his absence. The original film followed Gbotija, a young man determined to become a formidable warrior after his father's death. His journey brought him into the army of Ogundiji, a powerful warlord whose authority faced increasing challenges as Gbotija's strength and abilities became apparent. The story combined intense battle sequences with traditional Yoruba costumes, cultural practices and political rivalries. These elements helped establish the film as a prominent contemporary Nigerian historical epic. While the sequel's full plot remains undisclosed, the title suggests that conflicts between warriors and the struggle for power will remain central to the story.
