The CAF calendar 2026 2030 covers a wider programme of competitions, giving football authorities and clubs more time to prepare. The announcement confirmed the five-year calendar’s approval, although it did not publish every competition date in the schedule.
#Why the calendar matters to fans and clubs#
Knowing the African football dates in advance helps clubs organise training, player registration, travel and match preparations. National football associations can also plan their domestic competitions around continental tournaments.
For fans, confirmed dates make it easier to follow their favourite teams, plan trips and avoid missing important matches.
A well-organised calendar can also help reduce fixture clashes and give teams more time to prepare. This matters for clubs competing in CAF tournaments while also playing in their domestic leagues.
CAF approved changes to its interclub competition regulations alongside the calendar. Clubs will be able to register up to 40 players during a season, and players may represent more than one club in CAF interclub competitions in the same season. These changes give clubs greater flexibility in managing their squads.
#Nigeria’s role in CAF’s upcoming events#
Nigeria features prominently in the new schedule.
The country will host CAF’s Ordinary General Assembly on November 21. The meeting will bring football administrators together to discuss issues affecting African football.
Lagos will also host the CAF Awards on December 7, where outstanding players and other football figures from across the continent will be recognised.
The Nigeria CAF assembly and the awards ceremony put the country at the centre of important continental football activities. They also offer Nigerian supporters an opportunity to celebrate African football on home soil.
#What happens next?#
The approved calendar gives clubs, national associations and fans a framework for planning through 2030. Supporters should continue checking CAF’s official announcements for further details, venues and match schedules.
With major competitions approaching, the new dates provide a useful guide to the African football season.
